Although Netflix's original series Umbrella Academy hasn't been renewed for a third season yet, fans are almost positive the announcement will come sometime soon, especially since the second season received the same success as the first one.

And with the cliffhanger ending of season 2, fans are definitely looking forward to another season to answer some of their questions.

Fans have tons of unanswered questions from Umbrella Academy season 2.

Questions From Umbrella Academy Season 2

Disclaimer: The following contains major spoilers for Umbrella Academy season 2! Continue reading at your own risk.

For one, fans are confused about how Number 6, aka Ben Hargreeves, is alive after they returned to 2019, where they have finally prevented the apocalypse from happening (care of Number 7, aka Vanya Hargreeves aka White Violin).

Besides Ben, their adoptive father, the eccentric Reginald Hargreeves, is also alive and has formed a new team of superheroes named the Sparrow Academy, including Ben and a few other talented kids from the original 43 children.

For those who forgot, these 43 children were all born on the same day from women who were not pregnant earlier that day.

However, sir Reginald Hargreeves was only able to get seven of the children, but based on the ending of season 2, the Sparrow Academy, and the appearance of Lila, the other children all have unique skills too.

With that, some believe a form or rivalry will develop between the Umbrella Academy and the Sparrow Academy--but it appears that many fans believe that the main villain of the next season will not come from any of the 43 children.

The Next Big Villain

Although Lila does seem to be an excellent candidate to be a villain, especially as she grew up as the Handler's daughter, fan theories are pointing to another character: Harlan.

When the Hargreeves were transported to the 1960s, Vanya lost her memories and became Harlan's nanny, a young kid with special needs.

In an attempt to save Harlan's life after drowning, Vanya unknowingly transferred some of her powers to the young kid, creating a chaotic climax for Umbrella Academy season 2, but by the end of the series, Vanya was able to remove any traces of her power from Harlan--or so she thought.

The superhero series's final shot clearly shows Vanya was unsuccessful and that Harlan still has powers left, which ScreenRant believes could lead to a hero and villain dynamic between the two characters.

How Harlan Could Become the Show's Villain

Moreover, Harlan didn't exactly have a great childhood.

His father was cruel, and because of that, the young kid accidentally killed his own dad, plus his inability to speak makes it challenging for him to ask questions and say whatever's bothering him.

If we've learned anything from the past two seasons of Umbrella Academy, Vanya will always be the bomb that will trigger the apocalypse, so it won't be surprising if the next big villain is yet again connected to her.

There are several unanswered questions from the last season of the Netflix original superhero series, so everybody is definitely waiting for the third season, which will likely happen next year or by 2022 due to the pandemic.
