The popularly known Taycan by Porsche has easily been known as their top selling electric car in Europe but it seems that the tables have turned. The Taycan did not just dominate the EV sales, it even sold more than the Panamera in general! This was the closest gas-powered competitor in comparison to Porsche's Taycan.

In terms of both design and specs, the Porsche company was able to perfectly hit the mark with their Taycan. The only problem with the car was its steeply high prices that also raised certain questions regarding the vehicle's very own potential success.

Porsche Taycan and how it dominated the market

Porsche also only started delivering the known Taycan only less than just a year ago, and also after ramping up the whole production, the known sales volumes are already starting to be quite significant for a particularly priced $100,000 performance vehicle.

All the way in North America, the sales for Porsche in general have been a bit slower to Tesla's dominating presence but all the way in Europe, the known Taycan is actually starting to do quite well. Some time last month, the known Taycan actually became Porsche's number one best-selling vehicle all over Europe. This meant that it was able to beat the previous Porsche 911 with a stunning 1,183 units.

Just to be fair, the known Cayenne is Porsche's actual best-selling vehicle if you decide to combine both the SUV sales with the known Cayenne coupe version. However, this is not actually the most interesting comparison that can be drawn.

What about the Panamera? What's wrong?

In Porsche's very own lineup, the previous Panamera is the Taycan's closest competitor that is competing in the very same category. The Panamera's sales dropped down drastically by 71% during the last month in Europe.

Prior to actually starting the deliveries, Porsche had already planned for the production of over 20,000 solid Taycans. If they are able to ramp up to the known level, this would then result in them being one of the known best-selling vehicles all across the globe. This, in turn, would be really good for electric cars in general.

Which car should you buy?

Electrek has been suggesting that if you are interested in buying a Porsche, it would be advised to purchase the Taycan. Electrek then described the car as the "best option."

With the known Panamera being the one and only closest form factory within the lineup, it makes perfect sense that it is also cannibalizing the sales of the Porsche sedan. It's also very likely to bring certain new buyers to hop on the brand.

Oh yeah, Porsche is also expected to launch a new electric vehicle, the electric Macan. Currently, the company is suffering a drop of 62% for their gas-powered SUVs. This is also partly due to the pandemic but it could also mean that the market is already looking towards the electric version.

Tesla on the other hand, has been struggling in its sales in Europe. Revealed in an article by Electrek, this was actually because of the lack of supply and not because of them being crushed by their competition. Since the carmaker is currently constructing a massive Gigafactory in Germany, the supply in Europe could possibly see an enormous growth.

Could Tesla beat the Porsche Taycan? Well, we just have to find out once the Gigafactory opens.
