William Henry Gates III, famously known as Bill Gates, is not the smartest person in Microsoft in terms of IQ, according to a testimony of a former employee of the American technology giant from Redmond, Washington. Bill Gates is not intimated by this fact and regards that "IQ isn't everything," in an interview.

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 20: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation co-founder Bill Gates speaks at Goalkeepers 2017, at Jazz at Lincoln Center on September 20, 2017 in New York City. Goalkeepers is organized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to highlight progress against global poverty and disease, showcase solutions to help advance the Sustainable Development Goals (or Global Goals) and foster bold leadership to help accelerate the path to a more prosperous, healthy and just future.

Bill Gates is one of the highly respected technology CEOs of the past and current generations because of Microsoft's many advancements, a company he co-founded together with Paul Allen during their college days. The duo formed "Microsoft" in a garage, providing the world with one of the earliest computer technologies innovations.

Paul Allen and Bill Gates were both considered as geniuses of their generation, dominating the computer market in the late 1970s up until the present. Microsoft came from combining the words "microprocessor" and "software," providing the world with the latest innovations for computer technology.

Since the company's foundation in 1975, Bill Gates was the Chief Executive Officer of the computer software company that was founded in the Albuquerque garage. Since then, Gates received the gratification of being the "Smartest Man in Microsoft" while some even consider him on par with Apple's Steve Jobs to be the "Smartest Man in the World."

Bill Gates: Not the Smartest Man in Microsoft

Former employees and first-hand witnesses from Microsoft's management share their opinion regarding the knowledge level of former executives and superiors in the tech company. According to Microsoft's Former Senior Vice President (1990 to 1999) Brad Silverberg on Quora, Bill Gates is among the company's smartest people.

Silverberg shared high regard for Microsoft's co-founder, saying that Bill Gates always engages in highly intellectual and in-depth conversations with any employee. Sometimes, Gates leave employees speechless with mind-boggling statements or questions that he would pose.

However, despite Bill Gates' status as Microsoft's big boss and high intellect, another executive from the company outsmarts him. Silverberg mentions that Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014, outscores Bill Gates on the Putnam Exam.

Bill Gates is indeed among the smartest in Microsoft, but this does not guarantee the co-founder topping the list as the most knowledgeable in the company. Bill Gates' IQ is one of the highest in the technology CEOs and the world, rating up to 160 IQ from his SAT scores and Harvard application.

According to CNBC, Bill Gates' interview in 2016 with Lin-Manuel Miranda has the Microsoft co-founder answer several fans' questions via Facebook. At one point, a fan asked the former CEO about advice that Bill Gates would give his younger self.

Bill Gates answered that he would advise his younger self not to be naive about high IQ and intelligence as it is not everything in the world. Gates also regarded that having a high IQ does not automatically make one "good at everything." The variety of skills of a person added with their knowledge makes up the component of being an overall knowledgeable person.
