Samsung is a brand that loves big screen real estate and it proved that point at CES 2014 where it has introduced the Galaxy Note Pro and the Tab Pro.

The Galaxy NotePro sports a 12.2-inch WQXGA display while the TabPro comes with a 12.2-, 10.1-, or 8.4-inch display. Both variants feature 2560x1600 display, Wi-Fi, 3G or LTE connectivity, and an 8-megapixel main camera. The new lineup of tablets comes out of the box operating on Android 4.4 KitKat.

"We created the Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO series to kick-off a year in which Samsung truly establishes its leadership in the tablet market. This new line offers the best-in-class content consumption and productivity, combining a stunning viewing experience with Samsung's design legacy. The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO truly demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with extraordinarily versatile product offerings, tailored to tablet users of every description," said Samsung Electronics' IT & Mobile Division chief executive and president JK Shin in a statement.

The 12.2-inch NotePro and TabPro tablets will both have a quad core chip under the hood clocking 2.3 GHz working with 3GB RAM. With the big size comes the power demand and Samsung packaged the big members of the brood with 9,500 mAh batteries. In terms of storage, the 12.2-inch tablets will be available with 32GB or 64GB of internal memory with the option to expand using a microSD. The 10.1-inch and 8.4-inch Tab Pro models will have a storage capacity of 16GB or 32GB.

Just like the other members of the Galaxy Note family, the large NotePro stands out from the rest because of the S Pen stylus that comes with it.

"The Samsung S Pen included with the Galaxy NotePRO delivers a more responsive, productive and overall efficient tablet experience with access to features such as Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write and S Finder. In addition, Pen Window enables users to simply draw a window of any size on the screen, and instantly access unique in-application features such as YouTube or a calculator," the company disclosed.

Those who want to boost their productivity can utilize the Multi Window feature of the tablets. This allows users to split the display into several windows. They also come with a virtual keyboard. Geared toward professionals, the NotePro and the TabPro will roll out with Cisco WebEx Meetings pre-installed.

There is no question about the expansive display of the 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePro and TabPro but it can be tiring to hold a 750-gram (or nearly 2 pounds) device with one hand after a few minutes. It is also clear that Samsung taunts Apple and Microsoft with these new offerings.
