There are plenty of reasons why Marvel's Star Wars #1 is so highly anticipated. First off, the issue marks the first Marvel-published Star Wars comic in roughly two decades, the book has a crack team of artists and writers behind it and it's the fans first look at the reworked 'Expanded Universe.'

More than any of those things, fans are excited because Star Wars #1 is the first time they will get to see new and officially canon Star Wars stories for the first time since the new trilogy was announced. It feels like it's been years since Han, Leia, Luke and Chewie were together, and Star Wars #1 feels like something of a reunion for fans of the franchise.

So far, we've seen snippets and variant covers, but up until now, Marvel has been finicky about how much of the book is revealed. Thankfully (after what feels like forever), Marvel and Entertainment Weekly have published the first fully-lettered preview of the book.

Two words: Han Solo.

Even with such a limited sneak peek, it looks as if the writers over at Marvel have the universe down pat. The smug swagger of Solo, the upturned noses of Imperial officials and the impossibly proper calculations of C3PO are all perfectly represented, and while there's not much in the way of spoilers present, it does give a good hint at what our favorite Star Wars smuggling ring is up to.

While the characters, the writing and the art are all fantastic, the best part about the entire preview is realizing that there's less than a week away until the issue goes on sale: Star Wars #1 is set to hit shelves on Jan. 14.
