The video game "Genshin Impact" was one of the most popular video games in 2020. With that, one of the most popular fast-food chains in the world, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), had scheduled a crossover event to delight the fans of both the game and the food chain.

Unfortunately, the crossover event set to be held in China was forced to shut down over COVID-19 protocol violations, disappointing thousands of fans.

Genshin Impact and KFC cross over event canceled

As reported by Kotaku, KFC in China was holding a special promotion with "Genshin Impact" to award special pins to customers who yelled out to employees when buying their food.

In both the Hangzhou and Shanghai locations of the fast-food chain, the promotion had to be canceled almost immediately after it started because of COVID-19 protocol violations.

Due to the video game's huge fanbase and the collective desire of the fans to get exclusive merchandise, the event got out of hand, and the COVID-19 protocol was not followed, according to The Gamer.

Despite China slowly returning to normal, the country is still not willing to risk it, and COVID-19 protocols are still implemented.

"Genshin Impact" is one of the most successful games to ever come from China. The game's studio, miHoYo, released the game as a free-to-play title on PC, PS5, PS4, and mobile while the Switch and PS5 versions are on the way.

The game has received a steady stream of post-launch content and an amazing system with enticing new characters, making it very profitable.

The video game is not the only impressive RPG that came out of China, as the game "Black Myth: Wukong" is also in development from studio Game Science. It is based on "Journey to the West," which is a classic Chinese novel that served as the inspiration for "Dragon Ball."

Genshin Impact 1.5 Leaks

Aside from a joint promo with KFC, miHoYo is also busy with "Genshin Impact 1.5." Just recently, miHoYo introduced the Hu Tao banner, which was one of the most sought-after characters.

As the Moment of Bloom banner comes to an end, the next major update for the game, the 1.4 Update, is all set to arrive. The update will be adding a new character Rosaria, a new in-game dating sim, and tons of new items and weapons.

The developer has started the beta testing sign-ups for the next update. "Genshin Impact 1.5" is rumored to bring the Chasm region to the map, and a few new characters are expected to be introduced.

Fans had speculated that the two Dendro characters will be making their appearance in the game. This will include Yaoyao and Baizhu, but there have been changes.

According to Genshin leaks, fans will not be getting Dendro in the 1.5 update of the game. Dendro is one of the seven elements in the game, but there are no Dendro characters available as of now in the game.

This means that fans who have been waiting for Baizhu and Yaoyao need to wait a bit more for the characters to arrive.
