Peloton Death: Child Reportedly Dies Over Exercise 'Tragic Accident,' CEO Confirms

A young child was reportedly killed in a recent accident that involved a workout equipment called the Peloton Tread Plus treadmill. This was confirmed by John Foley, the Peloton CEO in a note that was posted to the official company website on Thursday, March 18.

The company CEO noted that he is reaching out to the public due to his recent knowledge about the tragic accident that had involved a child and the company's Tread+ which resulted in death.

The official statement noted that although they are aware that there is just a small number of incidents that involve the Tread+ where certain children have reportedly been hurt, each one is reportedly devastating to Peloton and their hearts reportedly go out towards the families that were involved.

Peloton, however, has still declined to provide any further details regarding the incident, the child, or even the other previous similar incidents. According to Bloomberg, however, a previous report that was filed in February along with the official Consumer Product Safety Commission actually mentions another separate incident that still involved the Tread Plus treadmill as well as a young three-year-old boy who had suffered what was noted as a "significant brain injury."

Is Peleton safe?

In February, BBC reports that a child reportedly had "tread marks" located on his back, facial injuries, and a neck injury. The report was then updated along with a note coming from Peloton recently on March 17 stating that the company had been notified that the child would then "fully recover."

The company's recent statement even noted that the Thread Plus was actually designed and also tested for use specifically by people who were 16 and were weighing above 105 pounds.
