Is Microsoft Following Tesla in Letting Users Buy Games With Bitcoin?

On Sunday, March 21, Microsoft Xbox started asking its users about the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. According to CoinTelegraph, a Reddit post in the Xbox subreddit posted a picture about payment options.

One of the company's questions is what payment methods would they like to use on the platform. One of them said that they could pick Bitcoin as one of the potential payments added to the Xbox payment methods.

How to join in the Microsoft Bitcoin survey?

If you participate in the Xbox Insider Program for beta testing OS Updates, you will have access to the said surveys. Once you have applied for the beta, you will prompt this survey for you to fill out.

The survey asks a couple of questions like:

  • How do you currently pay for things on Xbox?
  • What do you think about the number of payment methods supported for buying things on Xbox
  • Which of these other payment methods would you like to use on Xbox
  • Have you ever decided to not purchase something from Xbox because your preferred payment method was not available

From these questions' looks, the company is looking to diversify its payment methods.

Microsoft accepts Bitcoin before

This wouldn't be the first time Microsoft has allowed users to use bitcoin for payments. According to Decrypt, Microsoft has already allowed users to use the Microsoft store to use Bitcoin to but has no longer allowed this feature to continue.

These purchases include games, apps, and other software that is part of the windows store. Even further back in 2014, Microsoft allowed users to pay for Xbox games with Bitcoin. Users could pay for items on the Microsoft store.

You can only purchase Microsoft store items on Windows with Bitcoin, and there isn't any sign of Xbox getting the same treatment.

The company seems to be looking to add Bitcoin once again to the Xbox form of payment possibilities.

Is Microsoft Following Tesla in Letting Users Buy Games With Bitcoin?

It seems Microsoft is beginning to warm up again to using cryptocurrency as a new form of payment across all of its platforms.

Unfortunately, according to CoinTelegraph, Microsoft has plans to follow through in making bitcoin a major part of its company any time soon as Tesla has done.

President Brad Smith of Microsoft said that the firm did not have any investment in cryptocurrency after Tesla invested $1.5 Billion into Bitcoin.

It is safe to say that Microsoft won't be headed in the direction that Tesla is going and won't fully support the cryptocurrency market any time soon.
