TikTok users are finding some weird activities within the Chinese app's platform ever since it became popular. And now a new theory has emerged, showing that if you use two smartphones at the same time to scroll through TikTok's feed, the same content will appear on both devices.

In this photo illustration, the download page for the TikTok app is displayed on an Apple iPhone on August 7, 2020 in Washington, DC. On Thursday evening, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that bans any transactions between the parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, and U.S. citizens due to national security reasons. The president signed a separate executive order banning transactions with China-based tech company Tencent, which owns the app WeChat. Both orders are set to take effect in 45 days.

A popular TikTok user, Emanuel Jenner, who currently has more than 54,000 followers and 4 million likes, posted the viral video.

However, he was not the first one to reveal the popular theory. In his video, Jenner said that he saw some TikTok users claiming that when they and someone near them scroll through TikTok, they will start to see or hear the same content that appears on each other's phones.

"So they say when you put two phones next to each other and scroll through the For You Page, you can sync the For You Page to show the exact content," said Jenner via his TikTok account @emanueljenner.

TikTok's For You Page Sync's possible explanation

Aside from Jenner, another popular TikTok influencer, Ciera Stitz, asked the same thing. She said that when she and her twins are scrolling through TikTok, even if they are far away from each other in the house, they will start to hear the same content being played on their devices.

She also shared her explanation about the popular For Your Page Sync theory. Stitz said that TikTok tends to sync the content of those people who are near each other or living in one area.

But, she said that her explanation is still a speculation and she is also one of the curious people on TikTok.

On the other hand, one of the commentators on Emanuel Jenner's viral video explained that the content sync possibly happens because of TikTok's proximity and GPS features.

The TikTok user added that the Chinese app relates the content you see with your friends. She explained that this allows the social media platform to boost engagement, thus making TikTok a more social-friendly app.

How TikTok's algorithm works

Social Media Today previously explained that TikTok's algorithms work by offering videos to people who like the same content or follow the same users. Aside from this, there's a high chance that two users will have the same For You Feed if they comment on the same videos regularly.
