Ryan's World began on YouTube in 2015. He watched toy review channels and thought that children should be able to review toys as well. His mother quit her job and worked on Ryan's World full-time.

The name of the channel used to be Ryan ToysReview. His family also changed their last names, Guan, to his on-screen last name, Kaji.
