In this Photo Illustration, a phone displays the Uber ride-hailing app on September 22, 2017 in London, England. The Transport Regulator has announced that it will not re-new the company's licence to operate in London as it's current service is "not fit and proper".

To make it worst, one of the affected employees said that he had to post a tweet, which went really viral so that real customer support would contact him.

"On my 40-minute ride home, I was thinking about how I just lost money driving somebody," said Kurt, the viral Uber driver on Twitter.

"As a driver for Uber I was charged money to drive a passenger thirteen miles today. #Uber #Rideshare #Lyft," he added via his official Twitter account.

Kurt, who requested for his last name to be anonymous, said that he already contacted Uber Support for help. However, the representative said that the fare was calculated correctly.

Because of this, he was forced to share his experience on social media so that many people would be aware of the serious software bug.

Uber's Passenger Drop Off Fare Is A Bug

Various apps and other software are currently suffering from different internal issues and bugs. This includes Discord, which recently suffered from login issues, Microsoft, and other popular applications.

The Uber drivers formally handed in the petition, signed by over 205,000 people, to oppose proposals such as introducing minimum 5 minute waiting times.

Now, Uber joins them as its new software bug greatly affected some of its drivers. According to CNN Business Edition's latest report, Uber Support clarified that a system issue cost the additional fare.

The company only disclosed this problem after Kurt's tweet went viral, which has generated more than 4,000 retweets, 33,000 likes, and 500 quote tweets.

An Uber spokeswoman clarified that fares for certain trips booked through the app were miscalculated because of Uber Reserve's software bug.

She added that the company will pay all the affected drivers in full and release bug fixes and new safeguards for the app. However, the giant service company didn't disclose how long the bug was affecting its drivers.

Other Plans Of Uber To Compensate Affected Drivers

The Hill reported that Uber will also start reevaluating its support process since some drivers are still not paid in full due to the system error.

Aside from this, the company also announced that it will start implementing some changes in its fare policies to be soon resolved and not happen again.
