Samsung had initially confirmed that it would release its latest smartphone, Galaxy S21 FE, together with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in August.

However, the ongoing chip shortage affected the smartphones' production, and it has been revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE's launch will be postponed to the fourth quarter of 2021.

Furthermore, the tech company might only launch the smartphone in the United States and Europe, which means that other vital markets would not have the chance to see the Galaxy S21 FE up-close.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Launch Date

SamMobile recently reported that Samsung is currently considering launching the Galaxy S21 FE soon in October 2021.

However, its launch might be limited to the US and European markets.

As a result, the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S21 FE may not make it to Australia, Africa, Canada, South America, and Asia -- even South Korea, where the company is based.

The reason behind the minimal launch is the global chip shortage.

The Hype for Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

Avid supporters have been patiently waiting to release the Galaxy S21 FE because of its high-end specs.

Samsung's Galaxy S21 lineup has the tech company's premium quality and specs paired with an affordable price point. It is a flagship device that caters to the masses.

Fans are now upset because Samsung is also facing the wrath of the global chip crisis.

Smartphones, tablets, laptops, automotive, and other devices that utilize chip processors are gravely affected by the chip shortage.

The Global Chip Shortage

Even a tech giant such as Samsung is already affected by the global chip shortage, which means that more and more companies will suffer its effects.

The global chip shortage continued to raise concerns and worries for many smartphones and devices due to launch in 2021 and 2022.

According to WCCFTech, Qualcomm confirmed that the global chip shortage could last for a couple of years.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Expected Specs

Based on previous reports, the Galaxy S21 will feature a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a standard 120Hz refresh rate.

Sam Mobile also reported that users might choose between 6GB and 8GB RAM and 126 GB and 256 GB of internal storage. The new Galaxy S21 FE will also come with a 32MP front camera and a 12MP triple-camera function rear camera.

Stereo speakers, Samsung Pay, and an IP67/68 certification are also possible.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE might also run on Android 11, with One UI 3.1.1 straight out the box. It will feature 5G, GPS, LTE, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5., and a USB-C port. The phone may also have 4500mAh of battery power, supporting 25W fast-wired charging. It could also have 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

Lastly, the phone will use a 5nm Snapdragon 888 processor, which added to Samsung's dilemma of acquiring enough chips for a worldwide launch.
