Slurpee is probably one of the most iconic drinks not just in 7-Eleven history, but in general as well. Now that the convenience store chain is celebrating its 94th year in business, the Slurpee is headed up into the stratosphere.

The iconic 7-Eleven drink will be going on a private spaceflight this August, departing from a 7-Eleven store in Michigan, which is considered as the state that consumes the most Slurpee in the U.S.

In a press release posted on the company website, 7‑Eleven Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marissa Jarratt said, "In the spirit of Taking it to Eleven for our birthday month, we're delivering our beloved Slurpee to space and bringing our customers along for the journey - after all, what is more far out than outer space?"

7-Eleven is no stranger when it comes to going big for their anniversary. To celebrate their 88th year in 2015, the convenience store chain gave away free Slurpees to their customers.

The slurpee is now about to go galactic, but which flavor gets to go up to the stratosphere? According to 7-Eleven, their customers get to pick.

The convenience store chain will total all the Slurpee orders made via the 7-Eleven app at the end of the month. Whichever flavor is the most ordered on the app gets to go on the spaceflight.

Available flavors include the Cosmic Coca-Cola, Planetary Peach Perfect, and Big Bang Blue Raspberry.

Slurpee Space Delivery Cups

All the Slurpee heading to the stratosphere will be put in commemorative cups, according to an article by Space. These cups will feature the Slurpee Space Delivery logo as well as "a take on the Apollo lunar lander plaques on their back, declaring it as a 'Slurpee For All Mankind.'"

These cups, specifically ten stainless steel tumblers and 30 plastic cups, will be given away to fans after the spaceflight. Those who order via the 7-Eleven app throughout the month of July will get a chance to win the cups.

Per the 7-Eleven press release, the more orders a customer makes, the more entries the customer will have.

According to the Space article, the 7-Eleven promotion for the Slurpee Space Delivery is open to U.S. residents who are 13 years old and older.

7-Eleven will add 500 EV charging stations next year.

7-Eleven has been embracing modern technology as of late and the Slurpee Space Delivery is just the most recent example of it.

In June, the convenience store chain announced its plans to install 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging ports in 250 locations across North America. 7-Eleven plans to do this by the end of 2022.

Back in January, the 7-Eleven Evolution Store in Texas came up as an Airbnb listing that offered a PlayStation 5 gaming experience.
