iPhone users have noticed that the iOS 15 Beta 4 auto-removes the green lens flares after outdoor photos have been processed.

iOS 15 Beta 4 users have shared the discovery on social media platforms and websites such as Twitter and Reddit.

The new feature does have its limitations and the iPhone camera may not always be able to process out the lens flare depending on what and where the photo was taken.

iOS 15 Beta 4 Auto-Removes Lens Flares

iOS Beta 4 seems to have provided the iPhone camera with a new update by auto-removing the green lens flares from outdoor photos after they have been processed. iPhone users who have noticed the feature have shared it on different social media platforms and websites.

A Reddit user with the handle Doubleluckstur shared before and after photos that show that the lens flare has been removed. A popular camera app named Halide has also shared the discovery on its Twitter account. The Verge also confirms that the feature does exist in public beta.

"It does seem to be the result of all the post-processing that's done to the picture, as the flare shows up in the alternate (and less-processed) frames that are available if you're using Apple's Live Photo feature," the article by The Verge reads.

The feature does seem to have its limitations as some iOS 15 Beta 4 users have experienced. Examples posted online have shown that the lens flares appear above trees in photos. The feature also does not seem to work on indoor lights.

According to The Verge, the limitations of the auto-remove feature extends to videos as well.

Which iPhones Have the Lens Flare Auto-Remove Feature?

iPhone users may be wondering which devices this new iOS 15 Beta 4 feature applies to. Some Reddit users have said that their iPhone XS, iPhone 11, and iPhone 12 devices are able to auto-remove the lens flare from photos.

The article by The Verge also mentions that it does not work on the iPhone 8 Plus.

It is being speculated that the iOS 15 Beta 4 lens flare auto-remove feature "could be limited to phones with an A12 Bionic processor or newer."

Like with any feature introduced during any beta, it remains to be seen whether or not this lens flare auto-remove feature will stick once the final version of the iOS 15 is rolled out.

Ever since the public beta of the iOS 15 was rolled out, iPhone users have had a taste of new features and updates that can be enjoyed in the final version of iOS 15. These include features for apps such as FaceTime, SharePlay, Photos, Messages, and Spatial Audio.
