AirPower charging mat, the canceled Apple product back in 2019 has a prototype. The video of it made rounds on Twitter.

The latest charging technology that we often see from Apple is the MagSafe charger, which features a much faster wireless charging.

Since AirPower was canceled a few years ago, we have not heard any news about it. That's the time when Magsafe technology officially replaced it.

According to a report by SlashGear on Thursday, Aug. 5, the prototype of the long-gone AirPower charger has suddenly appeared on the internet. The video of the Italian uploader showed what the AirPower prototype looks like.

From there, the speculations did not end since some believed that it would be resurrected soon.

Giulio Zompetti, who has posted a short clip of the prototype, said that he got the AirPower from a Chinese e-factory.

"The unit lacks all of its exterior housing, and shows this beautiful and heavy stainless steel chassis," the 28-year-old said in a report by The Verge.

The Explanation Behind AirPower Prototype

Based on a three-second clip, it seems that the prototype was connected to the iPhone. The Verge said that for the Prototype to function, it will need a special set of coils and iPhone hardware to enable them.

Zompetti said that what we saw is an engineering prototype that was not intended for the plug-and-play purpose.

In addition, he added that he has witnessed chars on the log when he linked the serial lighting cable to the prototype.

Moreover, the Apple device collector said that he could not say whether the previous overheating issue was still there.

Previously, Apple had a problem dealing with this. This pushed the company to halt its launch.

The emergence of AirPower online could mean a thing or two. Possibly, we could either see it in the future, or not. For Zompetti, collecting rare Apple gadgets is his hobby.
