Although some folks were able to tone down their usage by simply deactivating their account, some might be looking for a more drastic route--a permanent deletion of their Instagram pages.
As mentioned, doing so is easier than creating an account. However, it is worth noting that deleting your Instagram is permanen and irreversible.
As such, if you still want to take back your account after some time, you may opt to deactivate your account instead.
Account deactivation will temporarily disable your account for as long as you want it.
A little side note: even if it took a year already of deactivation, your Instagram will not be deleted on its own.

To completely get rid of your Instagram account on an iPhone or Android device, you'll be needing to do it on your preferred browser on your Apple devices, such as Safari or Google Chrome.
It is important to note that the Instagram app for both iOS and Android has yet to allow its users to permanently delete their accounts. So, the only route to do so is to head to your mobile browser, as per Android Authority.
To delete your Instagram on iPhone or Android, follow these steps:
- Open your preferred browser on your iPhone.
- Log in to your Instagram account via its website.
- Go to the Delete Your Account section of Instagram.
- Answer the question "Why are you deleting your account?" by choosing your reason from the choices.
- Enter your password again for identity verification.
- Then, tap on Permanently Delete My Account.

How to Delete Instagram Account on Desktop
According to BacklightBlog, desktop users could also completely get rid of their Instagram account without going through a grueling process.
To delete an Instagram account via desktop, here's what needs to be done.
- Open your desktop browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
- Head on to the Delete Your Account page of Instagram
- If you are not yet logged in to your account, you will have to enter your login credentials before proceeding.
- Choose your reason for deleting your account from the set of choices.
- Then, for security purposes, re-enter your password.
- Lastly, click the Permanently Delete My Account button.
