Netflix's New Website Ranks Top 10 Titles

Netflix announced in October that it will start tallying the top-ranking series and movies on the streaming platform. Now, the tech giant released a website to do just that, as per the report by The Verge.

The news outlet noted that the massive streaming service, Netflix, first hinted with its move to release a more transparent ranking of its most-viewed content.

The new separate website that Netflix launched allows its users to view the weekly top 10 movies and shows on the platform outside of its app.

The Global Top 10 ranking of the streaming giant lists its content in four categories, such as film in English language, films in a non-English vernacular, TV show in English, and TV shows in foreign lingo.

Aside from the ranking number in the top 10 list, the new website from Netflix would also show a more transparent view of the number of hours viewed.

Netflix's New Ranking Metric

Netflix also revealed during its earnings call to its investors last month that the streaming platform would bid farewell to its old metric, which only tallied the first two minutes of viewing in its content.

Instead, the tech giant will now be measuring the total number of hours viewed for the movie or series to enter the top 10 rankings.

Top Netflix Movies and Shows

The current ranking on the Top 10 website of the streaming giant shows the data from Nov. 8 to Nov. 14.

"Red Notice" sits on the top spot in the English films category with 148,720,000 viewed hours. On the other hand, the Italian film, "Yara," reigns in the non-English section.

Meanwhile, "Narcos: Mexico: Season 3" took the top spot in the English TV shows categories, whereas massive hit South Korean thriller "Squid Game" took the highest ranking for foreign series.

To be precise, the South Korean battle royale-themed series garnered a cool 1.65 billion watch hours in the streaming service, as per the data provided by the Top 10 website.

It is worth noting that "Squid Game" also got the all-time highest ranking even in the previous metric of the streaming platform that only accounts for the first two minutes of viewing.

That said, even with the new ranking metric of the tech giant, "Squid Game" is still second to none.
