Also, iMessage is more than just a minimalist messaging app. It turns out that it sports handy features like sending files and changing the font size. And these could be done easier by following the essential shortcuts below.

That said, you might be missing out on some of the functionalities of iMessage even as you have been using the app for a long time now.

To cut to the chase, here are some of the essential iMessage keyboard shortcuts, at least for Mac users, to make the most out of it.

Reply to Most Recent Chat

In some cases, chat conversations become flooded with various topics as it helps to respond to the most recently sent message first by using this shortcut on the iMessage app on Mac.

Just press Command and "R" to specifically reply to the latest message in the conversation, as per LifeHacker.

Email iMessage Contact

Another handy feature on the iMessage app allows users to send an email to the person they are chatting with instantaneously.

In turn, it would make sending email more efficient as it lessens the steps to draft a new email.

All you will have to do is to press these three keys at the same time: Command, Option, and "E" while you are in an iMessage conversation, according to the Apple Support page.

This shortcut should draft an email to your contact without the need to manually open your email.

However, it is worth noting that the shortcut would only work if the contact that you are chatting with has their email saved on your Mac address book.

It could be handy to add the emails of your colleagues to your address book to use this feature, making the process of sending emails to them more efficient.

To start using it, press both "Fn" and "D," and start saying your message out loud.

iMessage Font Size

If you want your font size to be bigger, hold Command and "+." On the other hand, if it is too huge for your liking, press "Command" and "-" to make it smaller.
