Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, the rumored successor of the latest Qualcomm flagship chipset, is reportedly releasing earlier than expected to power faster Android smartphones.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Android Phones

As per a news story by Tech Radar, the current flagship Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, is expected to power most of the upcoming Android phones in 2022.

In fact, Samsung, OnePlus, and Oppo, among other phone makers, have already confirmed that their latest flagship phones are sporting the Snapdragon 8 chipset.

For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for its smartphone release in the United States.

However, it is worth noting that in other locations the South Korean phone maker is releasing its new flagship with its Exynos chip.

Meanwhile, way back on Dec. 6, 2021. The CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, himself confirmed that the OnePlus 10 flagship lineup is going to sport the Snapdragon 8.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 PLUS 'Early' Release

But despite the fresh release of Snapdragon 8 smartphones with other devices still coming our way, a new leak is saying that Qualcomm is already pushing for the release of its successor.

According to a recent report by Tom's Guide, a user of the Chinese social media platform, Weibo that goes by the name Mobile Chip Expert posted a leak about Qualcomm's rumored chipset.

Mobile Chip Expert stated in its Weibo post that Qualcomm is now asking its partner, TSMC, to start producing the Plus version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 "early" on.

Tom's Guide went on to Google Translate the Chinese post of the leaker, wherein it was revealed that the chipmaker is slated to release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus to replace the current chipset.

That said, if the leak is to be believed, Qualcomm is working to accelerate the release of next-generation Android smartphones with the early release of its chipset upgrade.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus

Tom's Guide noted in the same report that the Plus version of Snapdragon flagship chips typically follows the tradition of releasing in the second half of the year.

However, the latest report suggests that the next-gen Plus chipset of Qualcomm is seeing the light of day earlier than previous releases.
