Nintendo's Switch hybrid console is the top-selling console for February, and it beat the likes of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and others. The Nintendo console beat the new arrival of a rival, the Valve Steam Deck, which also features the same portable body that brings a hybrid device that focuses on gaming.

TOKYO, JAPAN - 2021/03/03: Nintendo Switch video game console on display inside Nintendo Tokyo store in Shibuya.

NDP Group and Video Game Industry Advisor, Mat Piscatella, released a thread on Twitter on the latest observations in the current landscape of gaming hardware available to the public. Here, it highlighted the Nintendo Switch to have the most sales in February, and it beat the likes of Sony, Microsoft, Valve, and more in the industry.

In January, PlayStation 5 previously took the spot for the top-selling console, with the Xbox trailing second and the Switch at the third place. However, it is a different story now, especially with the February stats, where it took the top spot for its sale in terms of units and money that the Switch accumulated throughout the month.

The thread looked at other factors in the gaming industry, including the top games that people purchased for the month, along with each top title in the different consoles now. Despite being five years old, the Nintendo Switch is doing well on its sales, and it beat other giants that offer a tabletop gaming experience compared to its hybrid setup.

Switch, Steam Deck, PS5, and Xbox

There are many things in common in the different consoles available now. Despite those being gaming consoles from various corporations globally, it is not the main similarity relevant now. The most significant similarity they have now is the infamous chip shortage that highly affects its stock and availability in the world.

However, it is something that may hardly be a problem for the Nintendo Switch as it sold a lot in February.

It is important to note that other factors affect this, and one would be the Nintendo Switch not having enough competition for this in the present. The Valve Steam Deck was recently released last February 25, and its arrival is for the preorders of the gaming console, and not yet its regular sale for those that did not purchase early.

On the other hand, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X struggled throughout their two years of existence, and it is due to the chip shortage harshly felt globally. The Nintendo Switch has held a strong game since its release in 2017, and it gives gamers a device that they can plug into television sets and play as it is, making it a unique experience for many.
