The iPhone 15 Pro model is allegedly having Samsung Display's under-panel camera technology for the Face ID System

According to a report by South Korean tech publication The Elec on Wednesday, March 23, Samsung is now in the development phase for the under panel camera technology which will be later incorporated into the iPhone 15 Pro model. The source wrote that this feature will hide the Face ID for the upcoming Apple iPhone.

Previously, there were early leaks about the iPhone 14 Pro variations which might potentially get a "pill-shaped" camera or the hole-punch design. Somehow, the recent rumors about the iPhone 15 Pro were closely related to this.

However, it was said that it would only have a single hole for the front cam which would allegedly hide the Face ID under the display.

With that being said, Samsung could be looking forward to incorporating its Face ID sensors into advanced phones. As such, they will look "invisible" to the user. This comparison can be further understood if we include the Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphone in the discussion thanks to its under-display camera.

Furthermore, the Korean tech site wrote that there's a lower pixel density for the Fold3 in comparison to the rest of the display. There's a downside to this feature: the presence of low-quality images at first glance.

If this rumor is true, we could potentially see that a new Face ID version will be more secure. for the next-gen product. At this moment, Apple has not yet announced if it would be releasing an iPhone 15 Pro model with the same feature.

The Cupertino giant has not yet mentioned if there are some drawbacks of adding this under-panel camera to the supposedly new model. For the development of this technology, Samsung will be partnering with OTI Lumionics from Canada.

Under-Screen System Releasing in 2023?

More importantly, The Elec said that Samsung has other plans of integrating its under-screen system in 2023 for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold5. That would only happen if the development falls on the designated date at the time of the alleged launch of both iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.

In other news, Macrumors said that the inclusion of the under-panel Face ID will be the first instance that it was included in an iPhone rumor.

Almost two years ago, popular Apple leaker Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the Cupertino giant will be using this feature for the 2023 iPhone version. However, the tipster did not further elaborate on the exact details of this announcement.

Elsewhere, Tech Times reported that new iPhone renders have been spilled out. The leaks showed that the iPhone 14 will not be having a notch.
