Google Chrome 98 update is adding a new security feature that could prevent web attacks, an option for desktop screenshots, and more.

Google Chrome 100 Update

As per a news story by 9to5Google, the monumental version 100 of the web browser of Google, Chrome, is now rolling out on various platforms, including desktop clients like macOS, Windows, Chrome OS, as well as mobile versions for both iOS and Android.

Chrome has been one of the biggest browsers out there, but that was not the case when it first debuted way back in September 2008.

Back then, Google was still attempting to sway online folks to use an alternative browser that was not only more minimal and simpler to use but was also touted to be faster than its counterparts.

But nearly 14 years have passed and Google has made Chrome a household name both for desktop and smartphone users.

Now, Chrome is on its 100th version, and it is celebrating it with a slight change in its icon, which has had a few iterations since the web browser first saw the light of day long ago in 2008.

It is worth noting that some tech experts have warned that the new version of Google Chrome, the "Chrome 100," could end up creating a massive internet outage.

It comes as there is a potential that websites will have a hard time loading when it is being accessed via a browser that has a three-digit version number.

Despite that, version 100 of Chrome is here, and it's flaunting new icons for its various platforms.

This time around, Google created an icon design for its web browser that matches its operating system.

For instance, Chrome 100 on Windows carries a look that 9to5Google reported as an "obviously gradated look," matching the aesthetics of both Windows 10 and 11.

Meanwhile, the macOS version comes with a 3D look on the bottom half of the icon, whereas Chrome OS brightens its hues much more.

On the other hand, the Android version ditches the white border on its icon, but not much has changed--similar to its iOS look.
