What Does Markdown Do in Google's Apps?

Popular Science wrote in the same report that this feature can allow users to transform a simple text into different variations: bold, italic, or crossed-out.

To alter the style of a word, you can write an underscore icon or an asterisk prior to the text that you want to change.

For instance if you want to make a bold text, you can put two asterisks like this **bold** before the word. You can also make use of shortcut keys if you want to avoid more typing tasks.

For italics, press Cmd+I (or Ctrl+I) and for bold text, you can click Cmd+B or Ctrl+B hot keys. However, in creating strike-throughs or crossed-outs, you can click Alt+Shift+5. For Mac users, press Cmd+Shift+X.

In addition, the Markdown feature is also capable of adding links to Google documents. You can do this by simply tapping Cmd+K or Ctrl+K to paste the link you want to add.

Apart from adding links and formating texts, you can also make headings through this feature. You only need to write #Heading for H1 and ##Heading for H2.

In Mac platform, you can do it in a more straightforward way by clicking Ctrl+Alt+1 or Cmd+Option+1. Lastly, Markdown also supports creating bulleted and numbered list in Google apps.
