Amazon is currently in a standoff with several book publishers over sales conditions and prices for e-books, and hundreds of authors in the US and Europe have written letters in support of the publishers.

The giant e-commerce firm said that the new fee, a 5% increase, will apply to all products. Ever since the Ukraine-Russia conflict began, the fuel costs started to become worst.

Aside from the crude oil, other necessities also increased prices. Because of this, Amazon and other companies decided to increase the charges for their products.

Amazon Fuel and Inflation Fee To Arrive

According to CNET's latest report, the new fuel and inflation fee will roll out starting on Apr. 28. The retailer said that all merchants using its FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service need to pay the additional 5% charge.

The announcement was made after Amazon explained to its shareholders that the worsening inflation rate could affect the labor and logistics costs.

"In 2022, we expected a return to normalcy as COVID-19 restrictions around the world eased, but fuel and inflation have presented further challenges," said Amazon's FBA team.

But, since Amazon is just trying to maintain its revenue as the fuel hike and inflation rate worsens, the new fuel and inflation fee will only be temporary.

As of writing, Amazon hasn't confirmed yet when it will remove the new charge. As a consumer and seller, the best thing you can do is to wait for the official announcements of the e-commerce giant.
