Hydrovolt is a new batt recycling facility created by two Norwegian companies. These are specifically Northvolt, a battery manufacturer in Sweden and Germany, and Hydro, a large aluminum firm.

The new recycling plant will allow Northvolt and Hydro to benefit from its resulting material streams. Now, here's why their new battery facility is a big deal for Norway.

According to Electrek's latest report, Hydrovolt can process 12,000 tons of battery packs every year. This means that the new batt recycling facility is enough to accommodate more than 25,000 electric vehicle cells.

Aside from this, the new plant can also recycle 95% of the materials used in EV batteries. These include copper, aluminum, and plastics.

Experts also said that the black mass, a power containing lithium-ion battery elements, such as nickel, lithium, and cobalt, can also be recovered by Hydrovolt.

The benefits offered by the new battery recycling plant are essential since the elements and materials used in EV cells concern manufacturers and national governments.

So, instead of putting them to waste, the new Hydrovolt will ensure that they can be reused for new battery cells.

Why EV Battery Recycling is Important

For the past few years, EV batteries have been among the concerns of environmentalists. Although the main goal of these electric car cells is to lessen carbon emissions, the process of acquiring needed materials still affects the environment.

For example, mining new materials for EV cells can still lead to more CO2 emissions. On the other hand, throwing old batteries are also harmful, as reported by UCSC.Edu

This is why some countries make it illegal to dispose of batteries. If you want to see further details about why recycling batteries is essential, you can visit this link

On the other hand, StoreDot's fast-charging EV battery development enhancement is expected to benefit electric carmakers.

Meanwhile, battery component cost hikes are expected to make Xpeng EV prices higher
