Although the PlayStation 5 has launched over a year ago, fans are still struggling to get their own console due to scalpers and the lack of supply caused by the global chip shortage. As recently announced, Amazon is offering a new option that guarantees buyers a spot at the console, but it might not come instantly.

PS5 Restock Still in Short Supply Due to Supply Chain Issues and Scalpers

When the PlayStation 5 first launched, it was almost impossible to get the console at SRP, and although fans thought this would change in the months following, due to the lack of supply, a better supply never happened, as per Finder.

Buyers have been struggling to purchase the PS5 restock due to both the lack of supply and scalpers using bots in order to buy out any available stock on the market, as detailed in an article by IGN back in 2021. 

Amazon has an Invite-Only System for PS5 Restock Buyers

Although the article was published a year ago, things haven't changed that much when it comes to scalpers using bots to buy consoles and selling them at higher prices. Amazon, however, plans to change this and make things much easier for regular buyers.

As detailed in the article by Techosmo, Amazon now has an invite-only system for PS5 restock buyers in order to provide a better chance for buyers in order to purchase the console. In order to be part of the program, buyers won't need to be Amazon Prime members for them to register.

How to Join the Invite-Only Amazon List

This means that Amazon is not making the registration exclusive allowing access to the PS5 restocks to a wider range of buyers. All users need to do is to sign in, go to the PS5 store page, and choose request an invitation over where the add to cart button is located.

It's important to note that when an invite is sent, buyers won't have a long time before the link expires, and their chances of purchasing the PS5 are forfeit. Buyers will only be given 72 hours once the link is sent for them to purchase the console, and if not, the slot is given to another buyer.

Disclaimer: Buyers Will Still have to Act Fast

Fans should be warned, however, that the invite-only provides a "better chance" and is still not a 100% guarantee that buyers will be able to purchase the console. As per the article, not all console requests may be fulfilled due to the lack of supply.

This means that in order to use the invite-only to purchase the console, buyers still need to act fast and purchase the console as soon as they get the link. Although the link lasts for about three days, buyers are still encouraged to make the purchase as soon as possible.
