Roiland said that he wanted to make games that he wanted to play, and that led him to create games with Squanch Games.

The game is in collaboration with Squanch Games and will arrive in the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in October, and many speculations are already surrounding it.

One speculation is that could it secretly be a Rick & Morty game? It's no surprise that a lot of people are still hopeful that there will be a new Rick & Morty installment. But it seems that High On Life isn't a Rick & Morty game.

High On Life: What is it about?

High On Life is an FPS in which users will play a human high schooler-slash-galactic bounty hunter. The protagonist will be killing aliens using living guns. The story is that these aliens have discovered that humans are the galaxy's greatest drug.

Players will need to make decisions along the way as every decision will affect the storyline. Moreover, users will get the chance to have some friends to help them make those decisions.

Every gun in the game will have its own personality as well. By killing clients in the game, players can collect grades as they visit multiple planets.

As per Squanch's description High On Life is "a dense and dangerous jungle, a city built deep inside an asteroid, and a variety of other dynamic and changing worlds."

The Rick & Morty Reference

One of the things that many fans speculate that High On Life is a Rick & Morty game is probably the shapes of the aliens. The partner of the protagonist in the game is a member of a race of aliens and they are all shaped like guns. This is the kind of humor we saw in Rick & Morty. There is also the sound of Roiland doing his Morty voice in the game, which makes it easy for fans to think of the show.

Mike Fridley, the studio director of Squanch Games did state that "fans of Rick and Morty's inter-dimensional cable are going to want to pay close attention to High On Life."

However, High On Life is not directly linked to Rick & Morty. However, it does look like it's somewhere in the huge Rick and Morty-verse. Still, the game seems to be like its own thing.

Still, it's best to be on the lookout for some Easter eggs on High On Life-you might find something really interesting.
