Did Vecna just take over Netflix?

"Stranger Things" fans are "running up" to social media platforms to complain about Netflix's recent crash following the highly anticipated volume two release of the show's season 4.

Final Two Episodes

After Stranger Things 4's final two episodes were released, there was a brief period early on Friday when Netflix's streaming service was unavailable.

Downdetector.com, a global uptime monitoring website, claims that user reports of Netflix issues peaked around three in the morning, right after when Season 4 Volume 2 of Stranger Things premiered.

Before the issue appeared to be rectified within a half-hour, Netflix error complaints peaked at almost 13,000 at the top of the hour.

Users began reporting being impacted by the crash at around 12:00 pm IST , and by 12:50 pm IST , they had reported being able to resume watching the episodes without experiencing any connectivity problems.

Although it hasn't been confirmed, The Indian Express claimed that the crash appeared to impact mobile users. During the outage, they attempted to access Netflix and play a new episode of Stranger Things, and it was successful - indicating that not all users were hit at once by the crash.

The streaming platform is yet to release a statement regarding the crash.

Stranger Things Fever

According to Netflix, based on total viewing hours, Stranger Things 4 has already established itself as the top English-language series on the platform in just its first four weeks of availability.

The combined running time of the two episodes of Season 4 Volume 2 is a little under four hours: Episode 8 is 85 minutes long, while Episode 9 is 150 minutes.

Variety pointed out that some streaming services have had trouble remaining online during times of extraordinarily high demand. For instance, HBO Max experienced issues when the second season of "Euphoria" finished earlier this year and when the limited series "Mare of Easttown" released its season finale in May 2021.

Before Netflix reportedly fixed the technical problems early on Friday, frustrated users from all over the world vented on social media about their inability to access the platform and shared memes of Stranger Things' villain Vecna.

The Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer are responsible for the creation, writing, and executive production of Stranger Things. The supernatural horror-thriller cast features the likes of Winona Ryde, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and others.
