Apple is currently preparing to unveil its latest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 8. If the tech giant sticks to its usual calendar, fans will be able to get their first look at the device in September.

As the launch date nears, the tech giant has been revealing the features that will come with the device, and this time Apple says that the smartwatch will have a body temperature sensor.

Apple Watch 9 Body Temperature Sensor

According to The Verge, Apple Watch Series 8 will have a body temperature sensor that will inform you if you have a fever. The device will also encourage you to see a doctor if your body temperature is too high.

However, the Series 8 watch won't be able to see a numerical measurement.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that the feature wouldn't give users a specific reading, and it still won't compare to a forehead or wrist thermometer, but it should recommend you to talk to a doctor or use a dedicated thermometer to double-check.

The feature will be similar to Apple's blood oxygen sensor will give you an idea about what is going on with your body but not give you any medical information.

Apple's Upcoming Watches

Apple is expected to reveal up to three smartwatches in 2022. Aside from the Series 8 and an upgraded Watch SE, fans can also expect the watchOS 9 with new features.

With watchOS 9, the tech giant may introduce an upgraded low-power mode. Aside from letting users see the time in low-power mode, the watch could also run some apps and other features.

Other Health Features

Aside from the body temperature sensor, the Series 8 will also help users with fertility planning. Also, Apple is expected to build on atrial fibrillation or AFib monitoring with a new feature for watchOS9 that can help detect how a user is in a state of AFib over some time.

On top of that, more workout sessions and running metrics could be available in the Workout app.

For the other health features, Engadget reported that users should not expect to see the long-awaited blood pressure monitor in Apple Series 8 as the tech giant had run into some issues with the feature.

The blood pressure monitor should be able to look for signs of hypertension, but it will not be ready for another couple of years.

Another long-awaited feature that fans won't be able to see in the Apple Series 8 smartwatch is the noninvasive blood sugar monitoring. That is also a feature that fans of the device won't be able to see for several more years.

Engadget also reported that some iPhone features that may arrive in 2022 would have better health app features compared to the smartwatches.

The Health app could have the improved sleep detection feature together with a scanner that can help scan medication bottles and remind users when to take their pills.

The latest smartphone lineup could also have steady satellite connectivity, enabling users to text emergency personnel and report incidents through the satellite networks. Apple is working on the same features for the new generations of the Apple Watch.
