China's first pure solar-powered vehicle can drastically reduce carbon emissions! Aside from its efficient zero-emission feature, it is also the first of its kind, completely relying on the energy of the sun.

As of writing, many automakers have already launched their own solar models. However, units that fully rely on the sun on are limited.

Now, China has its own pure solar-reliant vehicle called the "Tianjin solar car."

This new zero-emission car was unveiled during the sixth World Intelligence Conference.

Thanks to the efforts made by its developers, the new solar car's tour event happened at the Big Data Center in Xiqing District on July 5.

According to Electrek's latest report, the new solar car was created by 42 companies with the help of three universities. They were able to integrate a total of 42 advanced features.

Some of them are even comparable to the functions that top-tier cars have. One of the most intriguing capabilities of the new Tianjin solar car is its ability to reduce 25 kg of carbon emission every 100 km.

Aside from this, it also sports the following features:

  • It can reach more than 79 km/h.
  • When fully charged, the Tianjin solar car can run up to 74 km.
  • When it comes to power, the pure solar-powered vehicle is integrated with a battery pack that has an energy density of 330 Wh/kg.
  • Three passengers, including the driver, can ride the new solar car.

Other Solar Cars This 2022

Aside from China's first pure solar car, Mashable reported that the Dutch manufacturer, Lightyear, is developing another sun-reliant vehicle. 

The tech firm confirmed that it is now working on the so-called Lightyear 0 EV. Its production is expected to begin before 2022 ends. 

Lightyear estimated that their new solar car would be manufactured by the end of the year. However, the exact month is not yet confirmed. 

Unlike other solar cars, the upcoming Lightyear 0 EV is quite expensive, with a price of $263,000. Its manufacturer said that it would only launch around 940 units.
