Google Wallet app starts rolling out to Android smartphones to completely ditch the old Google Pay app.

But to avoid confusion, the new Google Wallet app is replacing the old Google Pay app, which sports a "G" and "Pay" icon in multi-color, as per a news story by 9to5 Google.

It is worth noting that some locations are getting a new G Pay app as well, along with the new Google Wallet.

And as such, the Google Pay replacement is arriving "to all users over the next few days," the Google spokesperson told The Verge.

But, of course, people also store other stuff beyond our finances in their real-life wallets, such as our IDs and other cards.

So the Wallet app wants to go beyond storing money or integrating debit and credit cards on the smartphones of its users. It also offers users to include their vaccination records, gift cards, and flight boarding passes, to name a few.

The Verge says in the same story that the new Wallet app is completely replacing the Google Pay app in most locations. It means that users would no longer see another app that goes by the same name.

However, Android phone owners in the United States and Singapore would still see another Google Pay app. Essentially, folks in these territories are getting the new Wallet and Pay app.

The new Pay app in the US and 'The Garden City' is staying, but it could only allow its users to send money to their friends and family members.
