Today, July 25th, marks the first day of the International Space Station Research and Development Conference 2022, wherein a host of space-based discoveries, aerospace developmental insights, and extended research parameters will be set center stage. The conference is slated to take place from Monday to Thursday, July 28th, in Washington DC and will be broadcast live on the agency's official mobile application and the NASA Television program.

The extended list of the ISS Research and Development Conference agenda includes such concepts as climate research, future scientific comprehension, and discussions led by key NASA astronauts. Today's ISS Downlink and Keynote Address featured NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren and Jessica Watkins alongside two executives, Chris Own, founder and CEO of Voxa and Oren Milstein, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of StemRad. The Next Decade of Results was a key driver of the discussion and was bled into the conference's subsequent two panels for the day.

The 2022 ISS R&D Conference coincides with the debut of the agency's Benefits for Humanity, a scientific research-based publication that underscores the various discoveries and advances made in the areas of biological, space-based, earth-based, and physical sciences. Thus, the digital booklet is a hallmark for the event, allowing NASA specialists to explain the prowess of their discoveries while highlighting the importance of their work for future generations.

The conference is being hosted by the likes of the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) and the American Astronaut Society (AAS), with aid from NASA. It is intended to impart knowledge on the importance of continued scientific investigations both on earth and in space through continued development and insight on aerospace concepts.

On Wednesday, per the ISS R&D Conference agenda, a NASA leadership keynote is intended to divulge upon NASA-specific discoveries and ISS endeavors. The panel will feature Bob Cabana, an associate administrator for NASA, Kathryn Lueders, yet another associate administrator under NASA's Space Operations Mission Directorate, and Vanessa Wyche, director for NASA's Johnson Space Center. The event is scheduled to begin at 8:50 AM EST on Wednesday.

Thursday will yield the Climate Research Aboard the International Space Station and will include discussions via key individuals behind the scientific reporting. These three individuals include Karen Germain, NASA Headquarters' Earth Science Division director, Ralph Dubayah, University of Maryland's principal investigator for Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation, and Simon Hook, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's principal investigator under the Ecosystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station. This event will launch at 8:45 AM EST come Thursday.

In all, the event is a mere glimpse into the scientific wonders wrought by NASA, as well as where future aerospace considerations will be met head on. Select panels can be viewed on either the NASA app, NASA Television channel, and even NASA's own website
