Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, China has come up with an idea to hasten the oral swab test among people.

With the World Robot Conference that commenced on Thursday, Aug. 18, an automaton has become the instant highlight of the show in Beijing.

This machine is capable of performing a quick swab in just 35 seconds. It's also useful in decreasing the risk of infection among the healthcare front liners who usually perform the said task.

CASIC's robot could be the next big thing for the health care industry amid the ongoing battle of the country against COVID-19.

According to South China Morning Post, a new robotics product from China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp (CASIC) was introduced during the recent Word Robot Conference 2022.

This pandemic-related machine has stepped up to improve the overall healthcare system in the country by providing quick oral swabs to patients.

Since China is still struggling to control the spread of the virus, certain measures are needed to be implemented. The deployment of the robots will alleviate the risk of infection among front liners.

Several cities across the country have a strict policy when it comes to tourists. As such, the visitors first need to undergo COVID-19 tests before entering a public spot. However, they need to be negative for the virus to make it happen.

Indeed, facing a lot of people daily with no assurance that you will be infected is stressful for healthcare workers. Using the robot in place of a human will save them from this dire task.

More Technologies Presented on WRC 2022

Aside from the oral-swabbing robot, many technologies have been announced during the WRC 2022. The event will reportedly run until Sunday, Aug. 21, per CGTN.

For instance, there's another robot that is used in hospitals as a delivery outlet for medicine, food, and other supplies. Instead of a human, this machine will do the job of measuring the patient's body temperature, assisting the doctors with their patients' questionnaires, and more.

What's more, is that there are also robotic surgeons. They can perform operations with no human interventions. Visitors who attend the WRC 2022 can try controlling a robotic arm for a trial.

Apart from that, some machines can help patients when it comes to rehabilitation. They could be a huge help in helping a person recover from neurological disorders through weight shifting.

The annual event expects that over 500 robotic technologies will be featured when it comes to an end this weekend.

This four-day conference will not only involve Chinese scientists and inventors. Some foreign technologists will take part in this event, as well.

Last April, a Chinese robot dog was used to informing Shanghai residents about the COVID-19 safety protocols. In just one bark, the people in the area can be immediately reminded of some measures that they need to follow amid the COVID-19 surge.
