NEW YORK, NY - AUGUST 7: The new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is displayed during a launch event at Barclays Center on August 7, 2019 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus smartphones, which go on sale August 23 starting at $949.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Google Assistant

As per a news story by 9to5 Google, the South Korean tech giant is now shipping the Galaxy Watch 5 series, including the standard variant and the top-of-the-line Pro option.

And these early customers of the Samsung smartwatch would have to manually set up Google Assistant for Wear OS to get their hands on it and start enjoying its handy features.

9to5 Google says in its report that to set up Google Assistant on a Galaxy Watch 5, users need to utilize their smartphones once they have finished installing the voice assistant app on Wear OS. From there, Galaxy Watch users have to manually activate the Assistant.

And on top of that, they also have to select the "Hey Google" toggle to activate the hot word.

But it is an optional feature. You may want to turn this off if you don't want the virtual assistant to trigger once you say "Hey Google."

It is worth noting that Samsung pre-installed Google Assistant on its latest Galaxy Watch 5 Series. However, by default, the own virtual assistant of the phone maker, which goes by the name Bixby, is enabled.

That said, Galaxy Watch 5 owners would have to set it up themselves if they prefer to use Google's virtual voice assistant over Samsung's very own Bixby.

Attendees wait to ask a question of a Google Assistant at a giant "Hey Google" gumball machine game at CES 2019, January 8, 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Google Assistant is an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant which can engage in two-way conversations.

The warning straight from the renowned search giant says that those who are attempting to set up their Google Assistant on Galaxy Watch 5 would have to wait for a while before trying again.

The support page of Google says "before you reattempt setup, it's best to wait for 15 minutes once your watch setup is complete."

That said, you would not really have to go through some tedious process to troubleshoot any issues while setting up Assistant on Wear OS.
