Sony is catching up with other mobile gaming firms at the moment after it completed the acquisition of Savage Games Studios.

The Japanese console maker has made this move as part of the official launch of "PlayStation Studios Mobile," a dedicated program for smartphone gaming.

The European software company has not yet produced any games at the time, but it has been working on a high-budget mobile game as of writing.

Sony has a wide collection of games that players can access on PC and consoles. However, it lags behind smartphone gaming which is one of the most used platforms because of its convenience. This might be the reason why the company is improving its reach to the community by launching PlayStation Studious Mobile.

To complete its plan to explore the mobile gaming business, it has recently bought Savage Studios, a game firm based in Berlin, Germany.

Currently, this studio is reportedly developing a "new AAA mobile live service action game." It still remains unannounced and there's no information released about it yet.

As part of the mobile gaming venture, Sony is expecting to bring new mobile games to its current catalog of PlayStation titles. Savage Game Studios will be in-charge with this task.

"PlayStation Studios must continue to expand and diversify our offering beyond console, bringing incredible new games to more people than ever before," Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst said.

Savage Game Studios' Previous Contribution

The company has not yet created a game for the community, but it has already contributed for the production of some notable mobile games in the market including "Angry Birds" and "Clash of Clans" (COC), per Engadget.

Additionally, Sony wrote in a blog post that the European  firm has collaborated with Supercell, Rovio, Zynga, and Fun Plus in the past.

Savage Game Studios is quite a new company since it was only established two years ago. If you visit the official website of the firm, you will discover that its mission is to " to amass a stellar list of action games over the next decade by focusing on building a core that teams can fork and build from. "

Hulst said that Sony's efforts in mobile gaming will be "similarly additive." This would signal that the PS5 maker is expecting to gather more engagements from the crowd and reach new players who have no to little idea about PlayStation titles.

This very instance could mean that the company is now ready to step up its gaming business and take it to the mobile industry. Having said, the release of this gaming accessory is just timely at the time that it announced the launch of PlayStation Studios Mobile.

If all goes according to Plan, Sony could be taking the same path with Nintendo which has already introduced some of its exclusive titles like "Animal Crossing" and "Mario Kart" to smartphones.
