Withings, a consumer electronics company, has launched its Body Comp Smart Scale for IFA 2022.

What makes Withings' Body Comp Smart Scale different from the other smart scales on the market is that it can assess the health of your arteries and nerves.

Withings' Body Comp Smart Scale

According to The Verge, the new Body Comp Smart Scale can give you a complete body assessment and measure several biomarkers.

The smart scale can offer novel sensors, exclusive algorithms, and patented electronics for accurate weight and body composition measurements, so you know what you need to work on.

Withings' Body Comp Smart Scale will also look at the facets of your body that are usually reserved for clinical settings.

That includes fat mass, muscle mass, weight, water percentage, bone mass, visceral fat counts, and BMI.

You will also get information on your heart rate and vascular health based on the smart scale's Pulse Wave Velocity.

Your nerve health will also be analyzed. It works by stimulating your feet's sweat glands, and low activity may indicate that your small nerve fibers are degenerating.

Withings' Health+

The Body Comp Smart Scale will be the first Withings compatible with the company's health app, the Health+.

The Health+ is the company's new subscription platform that unlocks additional features in the Health Mate app. It offers insights on striving for a better body and taking care of your overall health.

According to Engadget, the health app includes habit-forming modules that you can use for six weeks. The modules are contextualized with the data offered by the Body Comp Smart Scale.

The Health+ app also offers meal plans and suggests workout schedules to help you achieve your goals faster. The app costs $79.95 a year, and it is only compatible with the Body Comp Smart Scale.

Withings' Body Scale

The Body Comp Smart Scale is different from the Body Scan product introduced by Withings in January for CES 2022.

The Body Scan has a handle with four stainless steel electrodes that allow you to measure your ECG, segmented body composition, and nerve activity.

According to CNET, Withings created the Body Scan because its customers demand more medical and health data on their products.

The Body Scale has a high-strength tempered glass construction, and it is loaded with sensors, including four weight sensors. The battery can go for a year between charges and has a high-resolution 3.2-inch LCD color display.

The Body Scale's handle allows safe, low-level electrical signals to pass through your body for a complete body scan.

As soon as you step on the scale, a 6-lead ECG will detect your heart arrhythmias through two sets of electrodes.

As for the weight, the Body Scale uses multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis or BIA to measure your whole-body fat and water percentage, visceral fat, bone mass, muscle mass, extracellular water, and intracellular water.

The scale can also provide readings for individual body parts, including your arms, legs, and torso. All of that allows you to see health experts' metrics to review fat or muscle imbalance.

The Withings Body Scan costs $300, but it is incompatible with the Health+ app.
