Amazon Kindle 2022 succeeds the Kindle Paperwhite that the renowned tech giant released in September last year.

As per a news story by Standard UK, the newest Kindle brings next-generation features that have long been in the minds of its readers.

The new additions include the arrival of USB-C charging, which has been long-awaited similar to the clamor of iPhone users.

And besides the support for USB-C, the new Kindle offers a newly improved display that makes e-reading much better than ever. Plus, Amazon bumped up its battery life allowing its readers to spend more time binge-reading their library.

Not to mention that the 2022 Kindle expands the built-in storage of the next-generation e-reader. In turn, it gives its users extra space to store their comics and ebooks without forcing them to delete some.

Essentially, the new entry-level Kindle improved what required changing from its predecessors without staying away from the sheer simplicity of its overall experience and look.

Kindle 2022 vs. Kindle Paperwhite: What Actually Changed?

The new Kindle offers improvements in its display, battery, and storage. But how huge of an upgrade is it really over the Kindle Paperwhite (2021)?

Storage

First off, according to a recent report by CNBC, the new Kindle comes with 16 GB of internal storage.

On the other hand, GSM Arena reports that the standard Paperwhite released last year only sports 8 GB storage. Thus, putting the 2022 release an advantage here. But to put it in perspective, the Paperwhite could already store thousands of books, so it isn't much of a deal breaker.

It is a tie for the Paperwhite and new Kindle as both already support USB-C rather than the micro USB, which is frankly only proper in 2022.

Display

For the display, Paperwhite offers a big enough option for e-readers thanks to its 6.8-inch screen. Meanwhile, the 2022 e-reader is a bit smaller at only 6-inches, which, to be fair, is still adequate.

The two Kindle models readily rock a 300ppi E-ink display. This new screen provides readers a sharper and clearer overall visual, notes CNBC.

Battery Life

Amazon touts that the new Kindle could last roughly six weeks of battery life while only requiring users to plug it in for merely 30 minutes a day. However, the Paperwhite impressively outperforms any Kindle as it could stay alive for ten weeks.

Pricing

But the new Kindle is a cheaper entry-level option, whereas the Paperwhite is on the higher-end. The latter is more costly at $140, while its 2022 sibling only sells for $99.
