Microsoft Excel's will soon support a task automation feature that was only available to web application users, as reported by TechRadar.

The new spreadsheet update will let desktop users to program and run scripts that automate repetitive manual tasks. Therefore, users will now be able to create, edit, and run Office Scripts in Excel for Windows via the Code Editor and All Scripts taskpane. With this, users can better optimize their workflows. 

The goal of the upcoming update is to give users who are willing to put in the initial groundwork a platform to automate time-consuming manual tasks, which will then boost their productivity. Once programmers, scripts can be shared freely across all Microsoft 365 accounts. Therefore, a single employee can help several employees across a company to automate their workflows. 

Office Scripts

With Office Scripts in Excel, users can automate their day-to-day tasks. Additionally, they can record their actions with the Action Recorder that creates a TypeScript language script that can be run again anytime. 

Users can also create and edit scripts via the Code Editor. The scripts can be shared across organizations so people in the workplace can automate their workflows.
