As Gizmodo reported on Monday, Oct. 17, the bids on the 2007 iPhone only started to improve in its last days of the LCG Auction.

From a starting bid of $2,500, it reached the price of almost $40,000 on the final day of the selling event. The auctioneer closely inspected its condition and it concluded that it's been pristinely preserved thanks to its factory-sealed state.

LCG Auctions not only checked its current condition. It also inspected the information written in the box, as well as the "tightness" of the plastic wrapping around it.

"This factory sealed, first-release example is in exceptional condition. Virtually flawless along the surface and edges, the factory seal is clean with correct seam details and tightness. Labels on the reverse are correctly pristine beneath the seal. All original--no aftermarket stickers or UPC labels on this one. Brand-new, never activated," the auction listing read.

Original iPhone Revolutionizes Apple's Smartphone Business

Gamespot reported that many years ago, the Cupertino tech giant was having a hard time selling smartphones to the public. When the original iPhone landed on the market, it immediately helped the company to attract more customers in the business.

Way back then, the 2007 iPhone only sports 4GB of internal storage which was already big for next-gen handsets. It also has updated apps that you wouldn't see from previous smartphone releases.

At present, smartphones can store up to 1TB of data just for its internal space. Aside from that, they have improved RAM storage that allows them to run multiple apps at the same time.

15 years ago, the original Phone was the biggest breakthrough that Apple made when it came to handsets. Now, we get more from it starting from the enhanced display, higher refresh rate, improved camera sensors, and other updates.

The newest iPhone 14 Pro Max is the most sought-after smartphone in the lineup. It currently costs $1,100 and it's expected to shoot up as inflation intensifies.

For iPhone collectors, Apple's smartphones are good investments to treasure and sell after some years. Yet, given the economic downturn that impacts both the sellers and buyers, this is an expensive stuff to purchase before anything else.

No one knows what would be the price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the next 15 years. Can you also sell it at $40,000 or not? Well, it will depend heavily on the demand of this model after a decade.
