A foldable iPhone is not likely to be a future product made by Apple. Analysts at CCS Insight claim that the Cupertino firm will potentially first release an iPad with a foldable display in 2024.

The experts said that the company has been testing the waters to see if the device will fit the foldable market. Of course, further tests should be done before entering this business.

According to an industry expert, Apple will soon penetrate the foldable industry.

In an interview with CNBC, CCS Insight chief of research Ben Wood said that making a foldable iPhone in this current setting won't make any sense for Apple.

Wood thought that the company might thrive much better in the foldable market if it would first launch a foldable iPad instead of the popular handset.

He added that the tech giant will be gambling on a "super high risk" innovation for a folding iPhone because it is expected to be expensive. It will also affect the current prices of the iPhones in the market.

The analyst predicts that the foldable iPhone could potentially be around $2,500. That's even more expensive than the newest iPhone 14 Pro Max, which sits at around $1,600.

Aside from that, critics could potentially attack Apple for any future technical issues of the foldable iPhone. He described this as a "feeding frenzy" for the company.

Ross Young, a display analyst says that the iPhone maker is first exploring the tech starting with a 20-inch foldable iPad. This product will most likely become available by 2026 or 2027. This could also be the foldable notebook that has been the subject of several previous rumors.

Apple and LG Are Working Together On a Foldable Product

MacRumors states in its report that Apple is now collaborating with LG to bring a unique component to its future foldable devices. The Korean company excels in making ultra-thin cover glass for handsets.

This partnership may signal the potential arrival of a foldable iPad. However, the report does not mention if it will be a combination of the iPad and iPhone.

Apart from that, CCS Insight believes that Apple will heavily invest to improve its own chip design. To adapt to the 5G connectivity, it will depend on Qualcomm for its processors.

The analyst firm adds that the 5G modem will land on iPhones in 2025. This is the "single-chip solution" that Apple wants to implement a few years from now.

Previously, there was a rumor about the foldable iPhone that would replace the iPad mini this year. However, this still has not happened thus far.

Another rumor points out that a future foldable iPhone will have Stylus support. At that time, experts wondered if it would come with an Apple Pencil. So far, Apple has not yet released it either.
