Huawei wants to infiltrate the foldable smartphone business following the release of its latest handset: the Pocket S. 

Back then, the flippable phones received small treatment from the community as some people thought that they were only designed for entertainment. However, with the success of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the foldable industry has suddenly boomed within a year.

Given the adjustments in pricing and components, the foldable models still struggle to impress the users. That is because the iPhones and other high-end Android phones remain as must-grab models for the users

Another reason why some people do not prefer to buy foldable smartphones is because they are more expensive than the usual handhelds in the market.

Phone Arena reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 4, for instance, is more expensive than Apple's iPhone 14. However, with the latest release of Huawei Pocket S, people could finally view the foldable handsets in a different perspective.

The Chinese smartphone maker unveils the cheapest foldable model to date. For just CNY 5,998 or $830, you can now get the 128GB variant of this handheld.

Given that the Galaxy Z Flip 4's price is off the charts, only a few people can afford to buy it. 

Of course, Huawei is aware of the competition that's why it managed to launch a cheaper alternative for the premium foldable product which costs almost $200 more than Pocket S.

Regarding the discussion if Huawei's foldable phone can beat the Z Flip 4, the answer is "not this time." Given how ahead Samsung is when it comes to this business, it will take some time before Huawei could catch up with it.

Huawei Pocket S Features

The expected launch date for this model will be on Friday, Nov. 11 according to GSM Arena. Huawei first announced its release last Nov. 2.

Speaking of its features, the Huawei Pocket S is already a win-win offer for the part of the consumers. With its affordable price, you can never go wrong with this one especially if you are looking for your first foldable phone.

It features a 6.9-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, paired with 1188 x 2790 pixels for its resolution. It only weighs 90 grams and it boasts dual SIM functionality.

When it comes to cameras, it has a 40 MP shooter with laser autofocus, not to mention its 13MP ultrawide camera which is good for panoramic shots. Additionally, it has a 10.7 selfie camera. 4K playback is also available for this model.

For its batteries, it features a 4000mAh non-removable battery. Its 40W charging can fully charge your smartphone in just 20 mins, from 52%. You can also take advantage of its 5W reverse wired charging.

Moreover, you can choose among three storage models. 128GB +8GB RAM, 256GB + 8GB RAM, and lastly, 512GB + 8GB RAM.

While its specifications are too good for a budget-friendly foldable handset, it has a few caveats you need to know. It still uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G and it also lacks 5G connectivity.

Nevertheless, if you are planning to buy your first-ever foldable handheld, then this Huawei Pocket S is a great phone for starters.
