An online leak reveals potential details for two in-development Google Pixel devices.

With Google's recent release of the Pixel 7 series, details for an upcoming device have already been circulating the internet. The rumors first appeared in a Tweet from user Roland Quandt, revealing details such as the codenames "Shiba" and "Husky" for the in-development Google devices, which many believe to be the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in development.

The Pixel brand was first introduced way back in February 2013 and has since evolved into a competitive line of phones in the digital market, with industry-leading cameras and software updates directly from Google.

Alleged details of the two devices in development come after Google officially released the Pixel 7 and Pixel Pro line, which is powered by Google's second-generation Tensor chip and has been available to purchase in flagship stores since October 13.

The latest leak also revealed hardware specifications that were spotted in available code sources. The code sources implied that an unreleased build of Android 14's "Upside Down Cake" as well as a new in-house Security Operations Center (SoC) that was developed in partnership with Samsung, according to XDA.

While the code sources did not highlight all the details about the new SoC, it was able to confirm a chip that was codenamed "Zuma" which features the same Samsung Exynos 5300 5G modem as the Tensor G2.

Google Pixel 7 Line Compared to 'Shiba', 'Husky' Leaks

If the recent leaks about the alleged Pixel 8 and 8 Pro do prove to be true, it means that Google is stepping up its game on the specifications for its next flagship lineup.

According to Unlimited Tech, the 'Shiba' and 'Husky' builds may offer a better processor and more RAM compared to its predecessor, the Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro.

The online leaks report that 'Shiba' will allegedly be the least expensive option, potentially the upcoming Google Pixel 8, as it is said to feature a 2268 x 1080 pixel screen. Meanwhile, 'Husky' boasts a higher resolution of 2822 x 1344 pixel screen, which could potentially be the Google Pixel 8 Pro.

In comparison to the Google Pixel 7, whose specifications have actually been confirmed, the recently released device features a 2400 x 1080 pixel panel, while the Pixel 7 Pro features a 3120 x 1440 pixel screen.

Thus, the comparison of the Google devices led to the theory that the recent leaks may be an entirely new flagship model as they feature lower-resolution panels compared to the Pixel 7 series, according to Unlimited Tech's analysis.

However, tech fans should still take the online leak theories with a grain of salt as no official statement on a potential Google Pixel 8 line has been released as of now.
