The global Japanese car manufacturer unveiled the latest 2024 Subaru Impreza, and it centers on a massive change for the model's lineup, delivering the hatchback-only body for next year's release. The company revealed the new Impreza via the LA Auto Show, and it bids a bittersweet farewell to its sedan configuration for the vehicle.

Subaru also delivered the sporty version of the 2024 Impreza, particularly with the RS trim which brings better configuration, one that it borrowed from the WRX.

Subaru revealed its latest gas-engine vehicle in this world transitioning to electric cars, with the 2024 Subaru Impreza, coming to the world as a hatchback-only vehicle. The car made its global debut at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, showing off its bright red colors to the world, aiming to deliver improved performance for the Impreza lineup.

It differs from the 2022 lineup for the Subaru Impreza, which delivered seven trims of the vehicle for both the sedan and hatchback body.

Now, it only centers on this hatchback body, with only three trims, the Base, Sport, and RS, that promise an enhanced performance even with its entry-level.

The Base and Sport trim offers a 2.0 4-cylinder gas Subaru Boxer engine, paired with its 10 percent stiffer chassis for better performance.

All variants also get the WRX's dual-pinon electric power steering rack. Additionally, all variants also receive Subaru's famed EyeSight safety system.

On the other hand, the RS trim seems to get more of the WRX treatment, centering on a 2.5-liter Boxer engine from the company, offering a Lineatronic CTV 8-speed manual mode with paddle shifters, with its transmission also available on the Sport.

It also features the SI drive system and sport-tuned suspension, and 18-inch alloy wheels for better performance.

Subaru Impreza's Legacy

One of the things that Impreza's legacy is known for, is the two body options available from the public during its early days in the market, with the hatchback and sedan styles giving choices for its use. The other thing that it is known for is its massive performance, centering on its entries to the World Rally Championship, with this particular car winning many championships.

The Impreza gained fame as Subaru's optimized entry to the WRC, replacing the famed Subaru Legacy with a smaller built, and more rigid experience for better handling, control, acceleration, and more on the dirt track.

However, Subaru's successor to the Impreza's racing legacy, the WRX STI, already retired its development of the gas-powered 2.5 Boxer engine this year. Nevertheless, future WRX will still feature the 2.0 Boxer engines for upcoming cars, favoring its change to PHEVs and fully electric, battery powered cars, with the 2023 Subaru Solterra EV leading the charge.

2022 was full of goodbyes for Subaru, one with its WRX STI's legendary Boxer engine finally retiring, alongside the farewell of the Impreza sedan from its releases. Still, the Impreza is continuing with its hatchback bodies, delivering the feel and experience of the rally-bred AWD vehicle which made Subaru famous in the motorsport industry.
