Good news for Apple Watch users: the latest watchOS 9 update for the Apple Watch adds a power-saving mode option for users to save up battery when needed. This means users can now get more battery life from their device once they activate the option.

Apple Watch users eligible for the watchOS 9 update are reportedly receiving an update this week that includes the new power-saving mode. Users of the Apple Watch can manually activate this feature to maximize its capabilities whenever necessary.

Activate Power-Saving

Following GSMArena, the feature can be activated manually via the Control Center or the settings menu. It also alerts the user when the battery is only 10% charged. When it reaches 80% on the charger, it automatically turns off.

It is also worth noting that switching to battery-saving mode will deactivate some critical features of the Apple Watch, like its Always-On Display (AoD), arrhythmia tracking, heart rate notifications, and heart rate and blood oxygen measurements. Other notifications, such as workout reminders, are also disabled.

Apple also mentioned that the Wi-Fi and cellular networks on the watch would be disabled if it is not connected to an iPhone nearby.

Meanwhile, the system will re-enable data and Wi-Fi connections if you need a specific app that depends on them. Additionally, if the watch is in the phone's range of connection, it will delay notifications and send them every hour.

Following News18, the company has not stated how much of an impact the watch's power-saving mode will have on its overall lifespan.

Multiple reports tell us that, given the features that will be disabled, users can quickly get an additional hour or two of battery life with the added function.

Additionally, it is anticipated that the mode will make the interface feel a little clunky and that the Watch's animation will not be as fluid as usual.

There is no harm in using Power Saving mode on any device, but users should be aware that it will limit the performance of some features and may cause problems in certain situations.

If you need to extend the battery life of your Apple Watch before reaching a power source to recharge it, Power Saving mode is a useful option.

Apple and the Metaverse

In other news, new job listings at Apple suggest that the Cupertino company could be accelerating its venture into augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). This comes a few days after metaverse parent Meta laid off more than 11,000 employees to scale back its expenses.

For more than five years, Apple has reportedly been developing an augmented reality headset. New job postings by the tech giant this November, however, suggest that the company is stepping up its efforts in 3-D mixed reality, including a foray into the metaverse.
