Elon Musk Claims Apple 'Threatened to Withhold Twitter' From the App Store

As per the latest news story by The Washington Post, Elon Musk took to Twitter to tell the world that the Cupertino-based tech giant has threatened his social media service to be kicked out from the App Store.

The billionaire entrepreneur claims that the iPhone maker did not provide any explanation for such a move.

On top of that, the big boss of Tesla and SpaceX further revealed that the phone maker has already mostly stopped spending on advertisements on his social media platform. The Washington Post notes in its article that Apple turns out to be one of the largest advertisers of the microblogging service.

The Chief Twit tweets that "Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its Apple Store. He went on to note that the tech giant "won't tell us why."

If the iPhone maker actually boots out Twitter, it means that iPhone and iPad users can no longer download its app. Instead, they could access the service using a browser.

Musk Says Apple 'Mostly Stopped Advertising' on Twitter

In a separate tweet, the Twitter boss made another claim about the iPhone maker. He claims that Apple has halted some of its advertisements on its social media service.

It seems that Musk is frustrated that one of the top advertisers of Twitter is now cutting down on its spending on the platform.

The Washington Post reports that the giant phone maker spent roughly $48 million on the social network in the first quarter of 2022. In fact, the tech giant is second to none in advertising spending on the service.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS APRIL 25: Tweets by Elon Musk are shown on a computer April 25, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. It was announced today that Twitter has accepted a $44 billion bid from Musk to acquire the company.

Musk previously took a swipe against the App Store fee. He called the cut for in-app purchases a "hidden 30% tax." Following that, the App Store chief, Phil Schiller, quit the social network.

However, The Verge notes that the Apple boss, Tim Cook, spoke about Twitter in a recent interview. The CEO says that "they say that they are going to continue to moderate. I'm counting on them to continue to do that."
