Ex-NASA Engineer Conducts Egg Space Crash Test; Did It Survive? Here's What Happened

YouTuber Mark Rober, a former engineer of NASA, already had an experiment where he dropped an egg from the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

He explained that he wasn't satisfied with the recent egg drop experiment since humans tend to build taller buildings.

This is why he decided to send an egg to space so that he could future-proof his popular experiment. But did the egg survive?

According to Interesting Engineering's latest report, the egg space crash experiment is financially, physically, and mentally draining for Rober.

His plan involves clamping an egg in front of a rocket. This tiny aircraft will be attached to a balloon that can reach up the space.

After that, the weather balloon would release the rocket. From there, it would increase acceleration levels that can break the speed of sound.

The rocket will also have four fins that will allow the ex-NASA engineer and his team to control the rocket; they point the rocket on a mattress, which will catch the egg.

Did the Egg Survive?

The mattress that Mark's team used was bigger than the regular mattresses.

They calculated the needed size that can protect the egg during the impact.

In the official YouTube video of Rober, it was shown that the rocket was able to reach outer space. However, the egg was dropped at 100,000 feet.

Although the egg was not really dropped at the height of outer space, enthusiasts still see the experiment as an impressive one, especially since the egg survived.

But, some experts are questioning the egg space crash test of Rober. They are asking if the egg was a real one or if it was a hard-boiled egg.

Although Rober didn't crack the egg at the end of the video, many individuals still trusted the results.

This is because the former NASA engineer already has two Guinness Worlds Records.

The first one is the tallest elephant's toothpaste fountain, and the second one is for the most dominoes toppled in just an hour.

While the ex-NASA employee is busy conducting various science experiments on his YouTube channel, the international space agency is also occupied with numerous space missions.

Previously, the NASA Artemis 1 Orion could enter a retrograde from the moon.

NASA's space-based water recycling technologies are expected to return to Earth soon.
