Google Doodle is known for having a theme for every season. If it's Valentine's Day, expect to see an edition full of hearts. For the upcoming Christmas, we might see snowflakes and reindeer.
For the current edition, the search engine giant honors the great father behind the video game cartridge that gamers currently use: Gerald Lawson, best known as "Jerry."
Because it's his 82nd birthday on Dec. 1, you can play five arcade games on the platform and even design your own creation.
Who is Jerry Lawson?
For those unfamiliar with his name, Jerry Lawson is a US-based electronics engineer who served as a team leader behind creating the video game cartridge we are using today.
According to Sportskeeda, Lawson was born talented in repairing gadgets at a very young age. At that time, he could fix their impaired television and even create a radio station using spare parts that he bought from a nearby store.
Although he went to City University and Queens College, he did not complete his degree in either of the two schools. Fortunately, he saw an opportunity at Fairchild Semiconductor when he was transferred to San Francisco and worked there as an engineering consultant.
Around 1980, he began to develop his very first game and formed a startup dubbed VideoSoft. His team made the Atari 2600 software famous all over the place.
After five years, the company suddenly closed down. However, that did not stop Lawson from pursuing his talent. He looked for another opportunity to flourish in his career.
Since then, he started to develop the very first video game cartridge we still use today.

Google Doodle Honors Jerry Lawson's Works
To commemorate the efforts of the late game cartridge creator, Google is allowing all users to experience the feeling of playing arcade games once again.
According to XDA Developers, you can explore five games when you open Google Doodle's homepage. From here, you can begin to create your own game and design it like a novice game dev.
This theme is made possible with the help of Momo Pixel, Lauren Brown, and Davionne Gooden who are all experts in the field of game design.
Of course, there's a tutorial to follow before you get to the most exciting part of the game creation. Make sure to do them properly before you proceed to the main stage.
