Windows 11 Snipping Tool is gaining its much-awaited screen recording feature, allowing PC users to capture their screen in the video.
The new screen record option is now available for testing. It is on its way to more users soon.
So with some patience, you can start taking videos on screen using the built-in Windows 11 app. But if you are itching to do so, you may test it out right now.

Windows 11 Snipping Tool's Screen Recording Option is Finally Here
According to a recent report by The Verge, Windows 11 failed to feature a built-in screen recorder when it debuted. Instead, its users have been using third-party apps, such as Xbox Game Bar, to record their screens.
But that is about to change. The Windows 11 Snipping Tool, which offers screenshots, is now gearing up to bring screen recording.
The principal product manager lead for Windows inbox apps, Dave Grochocki, explained what they have in store for PC users. He touts that "the Snipping Tool is a favorite among the Insider community."
Grochockit adds that the "Snipping Tool has always made it quick and easy to capture and share content from your PC." And now, "with screen recording built-in, we are expanding these capabilities to even more types of content," the Windows manager lead says.
How to Screen Record Using the Windows 11 Snipping Tool App
According to a recent report by PC World, the built-in app is gaining a new "Record" feature, apart from its Snip option.
The new screen recording function lets users choose a predefined area to take a video of. It essentially allows them to select a certain app to show, or they could also include their whole screen. It works like the old "Snip" option.

Here's a look at the new screen recording feature coming to Windows 11.
Once done with your screen recording, the built-in app give you a chance to preview it before sharing it with the world. It should prevent embarrassing mishaps.
However, PC World reports that it remains to be seen if the new recording tools come with time limits. On top of that, it is still unclear if Windows is giving users video format options. But these uncertainties should be laid to rest once it rolls out.

How to Test Out New Screen Recording Feature
For now, XDA Developers reports that the updated Snipping Tool app is only available in the Dev Channel for Windows Insider users.
So to test the beta version of the Snipping Tool app, you need to be enrolled in the Dev Channel.
If you are, things are pretty simple. Update the built-in app from the Microsoft Store, and launch it after installing the latest beta release.
