Connecting your PS5 to Bluetooth speakers or soundbars is quite difficult to do. 

This is mainly because the PlayStation 5 is not designed to support Bluetooth speakers. 

This is the same case with the Xbox Series X. Of course, some fans will wonder why Sony and Microsoft decided to exclude the Bluetooth support feature. 

The two giant console makers explained that their two main reasons for leaving out Bluetooth support are latency and bandwidth. 

How to Connect Speakers to PS5?

According to Career Gamers, you can still connect your PS5 to Bluetooth speakers. There are different ways how to do this, such as using a Bluetooth adapter:

1. First, you need to connect a Bluetooth adapter to the front of your PS5. 
2. After that, open your console's settings and ensure that the adapter is recognized. 
3. Once you are done, follow this path; Accessories > General Settings > Bluetooth Accessories > Accessories Found. 
4. Select your USB-Bluetooth adapter as a Default Audio Device. After that, pair it to your console.

Connecting Soundbar to PS5 

Aside from not supporting Bluetooth speakers, the PlayStation 5 also doesn't have an optical audio port. 

This is why it is also quite difficult to connect a soundbar to the console. But, Xbox Play explained that PS5's HDMI ports can solve this problem. 

Of course, you will need to use the HDMI audio extractor; placing it between the console and the television. 

Another technique you can use is to connect your PS5 to your television via HDMI and connect the soundbar using an optical cable. 

To do both of these methods, just follow the steps below: 

1. First, follow this path: Settings > Sound > Audio Output > HDMI Device Type
2. After that, set the device to AV Amplifier and don't choose the Sound Bar option. 
3. After that, select the number of speakers that are available. 
4. Then, adjust the speaker positions to match the setup in your room. After that, follow either of these two last steps: 
   1. PS5 Connected to TV and passing to speakers.
      • Choose Dolby or DTS. 
   2. PS5 is directly plugged into the soundbar or receive4r via HDMI.  
      • Choose Linear PCM.
