Apple Battery Replacement Price Hike for Older iPhones

As per the recent report by the Apple Insider, the hike only applies to iPhone models older than the current iPhone 14 series, including Steve Jobs-era iPhone 5.

The media outlet notes in its story that the renowned tech giant already increased the battery service pricing of the iPhone 14 when it debuted last September. From the usual $69 fee, it shoots up to $99 for its latest flagship.

Now, it looks like older offerings are following through. Apple revealed that it is also raising the prices for other iPhone models.

The tech giant announced that "the current out-of-warranty battery service fee will apply until the end of February 2023.

With that, iPhone or MacBook users might want to have their batteries serviced before the hike. After all, they still have roughly two months to go about it.

The renowned phone maker further said it is increasing the replacement cost beginning in March this year. "The out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by $20 for all iPhone models prior to iPhone 14," Apple points out.

To be more precise, all Face ID iPhones, except the latest iPhone 14, are increasing replacement prices from $69 to $89.

On the other hand, older models, which still sport the classic home button, hike the fee from $49 to $69. It is worth mentioning that the pricing applies to the iPhone 5.

MacBook Battery Fee Shoots Up

According to a news story by The Verge, the battery replacement fee hike also covers various MacBook models, ranging from a $30 to $50 increase.

The Cupertino giant says MacBooks Pro models are getting up to $50 price inflation, increasing its previous $199 to $249.

Not to mention that the hike also applies to various iPad Pro models, including the iPad Pro 12.9 inch, fifth-generation and older, iPad Pro 11-inch, third-generation, and its predecessors, iPad Pro 10.5-inch, and iPad Pro 9.7-inch.
